A lintel box is invisible from outside and is a building job. New builds and serious refurbishments can take it.
What the wall will allow
Retrofitting one into a finished brick wall means opening the structure. If a salesperson offers a 'hidden box' on a finished house, ask them to point at the lintel they intend to alter.
